2) Courses Updates: Kilborne:
* Ralph Vickers has signed on as new Course Director. Way to go
Ralph, and thank you Barry Luker for all your work over the years!!
* December is most likely date now for park overhaul to begin (was
Aug/Sep).
* Clean up and trimming workday needed (won't happen until after
CLT Open). Reedy Creek:
* Brian Wilson has signed up as new Course Director. Nice!!
* Mark Beasley, Burro#1, and others working hard to trim brush and
get the course ready for the CLT Open.
* Signs are being made right now.
* Things will look sweet for the A-Tier! Hornets Nest:
* Needs Round-Up big time. Sam is on it. Sugaw Creek:
* Needs clean up! Lots of stuff down after several thunder storms.
* Work day will wait until after CLT Open. Renaissance:
* Tripp and Stan continue hard work out there. Veterans: Still a CDGC course.
* Beave is looking at how to maintain with Park & Rec resources.
* Discussed holding club events there. Not much enthusiasm.
3) Club Weekly Singles Events:
* They are going very well. Great attendance. Good fundraiser.
* Will move to Saturdays Sept 1st and start at 1pm (NFL football)
* Will cap acepool at $300. They start another one. If a capped
acepool is hit, winner gets $300. Then new ace pool kicks in at
whatever level it has reached.
4) Charlotte Open:
* Sanctioning fee has been paid. Paperwork is on the way.
* Steering committee will work to line up CDGC volunteers to help
the running of the events.
* Work days will be announced closer to the event to prepare courses.
* Ams will play Reedy. 2 rounds of Stout Saturday and 2 rounds of
Original on Sunday. They will then head over to the Nest for awards
and Safari Skins.
5) New Business & Misc:
* High County DG (Boone, NC) has requested CDGC sponsorship. $350
per hole. We want to do this, but are not in a position to fork
over the cash just yet. Will table the discussion and revisit after
CLT Open (Nov Meeting).
* With the closing of Kilborne delayed until December, we will do
another closing bash later. Bill's baby.
* Ralph will start providing a written meeting agenda to be emailed
prior.
* Meetings will be held at Ralph & Wendy's place starting next
month. BYOB&F. Dave to communicate to club.
* Squirrel Lake. Matthews did not get funds allocated, so this project
has been shelved indefinitely. A good portion of the funds were
to have been used to build a bridge over a creek so trucks and mowers
could get to the back part of the course. We discussed how we can
proactively get something going there like a temp 9 hole course.
* Starting Oct 1, new memberships will be $5 for the remainder of
2005 and $15 for 2006. $20 gets you a 2004 AND 2005 bagtag (handed
out at Ice Bowl).
* Re-elections for Club Board of Directors will be as follows: Nominations
taken in October & November 2005. Vote will be at December club
meeting.
If you want more details than this, come
to the meetings! :)
