May 13, 2012 HAVE A PEEK AT REEDY CREEK
The Plantation Ruins DGC
Thomas McAllister Winget Park is located in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte.
There are the ruins of an old plantation house and a couple outbuildings which
inspired the course name, The Plantation Ruins. The course has a combination of
wooded and (a few) open holes, and is fairly short. DGA donated the Mach V
baskets for this course as sponsorship for the the 2012 Worlds.
This course sits close to an elementary school and you will walk past
a playground on the way from hole 14 to 15. The park features
soccer fields, horse shoe pits, walking paths, rest rooms and picnic shelters.
Designed and built by Sam Nicholson with lots of help from course director
Tom Usselman and others from the Charlotte Disc Golf community, this course is
for the beginner to intermediate player but is tight enough to be interesting
for advanced players as well.
Holes – 18
Targets – DGA Mach V
Tees – Concrete
Course Designer – Sam Nicholson
Course Director – Tom Usselman

This is just a reminder to let everybody know what is in store for you this Saturday if you join us at Kilborne for the 3rd annual “Throws for Tots” tournament. The course has been extended to a 27 hole format, utilizing all three of the course configurations. There will be a decent CTP on nearly EVERY hole if not ALL OF THEM!!! On the last hole there will be a CTP for every card for a chance to win one of TWO Laptop computers (thanks John Dunn). Thanks to local businesses, a vast assortment of gift cards to area restaurants will be won. As usual, there will be a pair of tickets to the December 15 Panthers/Jets game. Doug Singleton has generously donated his Dynamic Discs Ranger bag that was part of the AM Worlds Players pack to raffle off (Thanks Doug). Big Guy’s Pizza in Mint Hill will be there to take Lunch orders that will be ready for you when your round is done. Duffy Smith at Alpine Ski Center has donated free ski rentals to be raffled off again. Play it Again Sports Pineville has donated several discs as well as a Travel Basket to be won!!!
With the length of the course this year and the fact that it plans to be a pretty long day, there is one small change to the schedule. This year, instead of having the hour and a half ring of fire, I have decided to spread some of that wealth around to EVERYONE!!! So each player will be receiving a players pack consisting of a Custom Stamped tourney disc, stamped mini, $10 gift card from PIAS, promotion cards from Whiskey River, Stickers and some Christmas Cheer. The top 3 finishers in each division will receive Some WAAAYYY SWEET trophies courtesy of Innova Champion Discs and Justin Bambury.
That about covers the guts of what ‘s waiting for you this Saturday December 7th at Kilborne Park !!! You can either register at DGU or the morning of the event. If you don’t want to use DGU, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know you plan to be there (this is just to gauge how many players to expect). Sign up/ check in will start at 8:30 at the Big shelter by the playground we normally use, players meeting will be around 9:45-10:00 with a shotgun start immediately after. So get on board!!! Help us show a little love to the young Men and Women that help provide us the freedom to live free and bring some Christmas Joy to some kids a little less fortunate than us.
If anyone is interested in volunteering to help with check-in, selling raffle tickets, anything else that might come up, call me at 704-609-1258 voice or text message is welcome. I look forward to seeing each and every on of you on Saturday.
Thanks and Keep Playing!!!
